My biological father wanted no part of my life

“Whenever someone looks at me they may see a short, goofy kid, but when I look at myself in the mirror I see someone else. I see someone who is never satisfied with himself. My friends always call me an overachiever, but they don’t know the reason behind my constant striving to do my best. While growing up, my biological father wanted no part of my life. For this reason, I always felt rejected and not good enough, so I always felt this sense of urgency to prove myself to my mom. It is difficult to get my mom to say, ‘Good job, son,’ but striving to earn those words of praise has helped make me the person I am today.”
