“That’s why I wear a balance bracelet because it’s supposed to represent the balance that I need to have and wish to have between the two cultures. I’m not fully Indian nor am I fully American and I can’t pick one side and be happy with myself so I derive in balance. When I first moved here it was hard to be balanced because I didn’t speak English. My ESL teacher always supported me. Advice…be confident and don’t be afraid to try new things. The sooner you try new things the sooner you begin to let go of your fears of not fitting in and the sooner you will actually start to fit in…not that you have to fit in, but you will feel a part of something.”
